Department 111 - Judging Contests & Group Exhibits

Livestock Judging Contest

Co-Chairpersons: Melanie Barkley (623-4800) and Ginger Fair

SPECIAL RULES:
1. Open to all 4-H and FFA members carrying a livestock project.
2. Contest will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday. Meet in the Jr. Exhibit Building.
3. Participants must attend an educational carcass program following the judging contest.
4. The contest will consist of: 1 class each of beef, sheep, swine and meat goats, feeds identification, equipment identification, meat cuts identification, livestock breeds identification, and a management quiz.

Group Exhibits Contest

Superintendent: Dwayne Hay (623-4800)
RULES:
1. Any registered Bedford County 4-H Club or FFA Club is eligible to enter the contest. If you don't register with the Fair office, you will not be eligible for ribbons and prize money.
2. Exhibits shall be placed in the 4-H center on Friday, July 24, from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
3. Reference for judging exhibits: Penn State Extension Publication S273, Exhibits: Design and Production.
4. Exhibits are allotted a space 8' wide x 8' high by 8' deep.
5. Exhibits may be removed Saturday, August 1, 8:00-11:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 2, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
6. Exhibits in each class should focus on the 4-H theme: "4-H - Building Our Future - One Step at a Time".

Winning exhibits may be entered in the Farm Show the following January, however, Farm Show exhibits are 3' high x 3' wide by 30" deep.
