GENERAL RULES:
1. This pull is part of the activity of the Bedford County
Fair and is conducted to demonstrate the pulling ability of each tractor
in conjunction with the skill of the tractor's driver.
2. The pull is also intended for the entertainment of
the spectators. We expect this "pull" to be friendly competition
and insist all participants maintain this attitude. We feel the following
rules are liberal as well as quite fair..
3. THERE WILL BE A DRIVERS MEETING JUST PRIOR TO THE
START OF THE PULL.
4. All tractors must be registered before they can be
weighed. At registration each tractor will be given a card to be placed
on the left side of the hood. The card will indicate which weight classes
the tractor is entered in plus the order in which the tractor will be
pulling. The card will also indicate if the tractor is pulling in the
pure-stock or the hot stock category.
5. Each pulling tractor will be allowed to pull in just
two (2) weight classes. The winner in each weight class will be allowed
to pull in the next higher weight class, but only one (1) time.
6. The tractor driver and one helper gets admitted free
at the Fair gate and pit infield gate and they must enter the
gates at the same time as the tractor.
7. A charge of $10 per hookup for each tractor must be
paid at registration.
8. No one under the age of 12 can go into the infield
pit.
9. No one under the age of 16 will be allowed to "pull".
10. A tractor may pull in a class after the class has
started provided it does not detain the action.
11. All tractors must stay in designated
area following official weigh-in.
12. Only authentic weights may be used, but they must
be attached in a secure manner. Pulling director has the final say.
13. Up to 20 inch drawbar is allowed. Drawbar assembly
must be of original type.
14. SAFETY - All tractors
must be operated in a safe manner at all times. Safety
devices may be added at the operators discretion.
15. The front end of the tractor, if elevated while pulling
will be stopped at the discretion of the flagman.
16. The first puller in a class may repull at the end
of the class if they so desire. Puller may stop within 75 feet for any
reason. The restart is final.
17. Only pneumatic, conventional rubber or radial tires
are permitted. Rims may be up to 4 inches over tire width. No cut tires
allowed. No four wheel drives may pull in competition.
18. Engines - Farm stock tractors must
have stock engines. Factory turbos only are permitted. Injector pump must
be stock. Engine may not exceed factory rated RPM by more than 20 percent.
We reserve the right to check any questionable engine.
19. Farm stock weight classes are: 3500, 4000, 5000,
6000, 7500, 9500 and 12500.
20. Hot stock classes: Any tractor that
is not Farm Stock or does not have a stock turbo will be in the Hot Stock
class. No superstocks will be allowed to "pull".
21. Hot stock weight classes are: 4500, 6000, 7500, 9500,
11,500, 13,500 and unlimited.
22. Prizes to be paid for each weight class are: $35
1st. $30 2nd, $25 3rd, $20 4th, $15 5th and $10 6th. No prize money for
Hot Stock-Class G.
23. A Trophy will be awarded to the first place puller
in each class.
24. All rules and questions will be interpreted and answered
by the committee, their decisions are final.

Horseshoe Pitching Contest - Thursday - 10:00 a.m.

SCORING:
Tournament game consists of fifty (50) points. Informal games are usually
twenty-one (21) points. Points are scored according to the position of
the shoes at the end of each inning.
1. Only one player scores in any inning.
2. A shoe must be within six (6) inches of the stake
to score.
3. A "ringer" is declared when a shoe encircles
the stake bar enough to allow the touching of both heel calks simultaneously
with the straight edge and permita clearance of the stake.
4. Closest shoe to stake scores one (1) point.
5. Two shoes closer than the opponent's count two (2)
points.
6. One ringer scores three (3) points, two ringers counts
six (6) points)
7. Two ringers against one for opponent counts three
(3) points.
8. One ringer and closest shoe of same player scores
four (4) points.
9. If each player has a ringer, the next closest shoe,
if within six (6) inches of the stake, scores one (1) point.
10. A leaning shoe has no value over one touching the
stake.
11. All equals count as ties, and no points are scored.

OBJECTIVE:
To provide an opportunity for the public to observe contestants
wearing wool fashions while leading a sheep as a means of emphasizing
this particular aspect of the sheep industry.
SPECIAL RULES:
1. Sheep must be a yearling ewe, ewe lamb or wether. No rams
are permitted.
2. Sheep must be fitted appropriately for the breed, and trained to show
at the halter.
3. Contestant will be judged on poise, appearance and control of the sheep.
4. Contestant must be attired in a woolen outfit, with the exception of
the novelty classes, which should be appropriate and attractive. The percentage
of wool in each piece of clothing must be listed in a description of the
fabric content. Judges will take fabric content into consideration when
making decisions.
5. Sheep are to be judged on general appearance - fitting, cleanliness,
etc.
6. Entries are limited to Bedford County residents or any junior sheep
exhibitor.
7. Entries are to be made on the Livestock Entry Form. This entry is due
in the Fair Office on June 17. A more detailed form to describe your outfit
or novelty entry will then be mailed to each contestant. This form must
then be returned to:

no later than July 6, 2012. If the completed leadline information is
NOT RECEIVED by Vickie by that date the entry
will not be accepted. All information on this form will be considered

8. Each contestant is limited to two (2) classes.
9. Each class will be placed and ribbons awarded. A trophy will be given
to each first (1st) place winner.
10. All animals must have health papers.

be judged on construction, fit, and appropriateness.

Exhibitor may participate in ONLY ONE novelty class.
Contestants may dress themselves and their sheep in any sort of costume.
(Rule No 4 above will be suspended for this class). The purpose is to
be creative and perhaps humorous. No age limit.
3A. INDIVIDUAL NOVELTY: Age groups are the same as standard leadline.
3B. GROUP NOVELTY: One class, no age groups, 2 or more contestants.

Section 3D
Log Cutting Contests - Friday - 4 p.m.

GENERAL RULES:
1. Each contestant must be 16 years of age or older.
2. Each contestant or team must furnish own cutting device.
3. Winners will be determined by fastest times. Judges decisions are final.
4. Chainsaw operators must wear CHAPS, EYE and
EAR PROTECTION. Operator must provide own safety equipment.
CROSS CUT SAWING:
1. All styles of saws are allowed for competition..
2. 10x10 poplar will be cut.
3. Contestants must make 2 complete cuts.
4. Cut outs will disqualify time.
5. Time will start on "go" and will end when last cut is completed.

AXE CHOPPING:
1. Classic division is for working grade axes.
2. 6X6 poplar will be chopped.
3. Pro division is for modern racing style axes.
4. 10X10 poplar will be chopped.
5. Time will start when axe head hits the wood and end when block is completely
chopped in 2 separate pieces.
6. Numbers will be drawn to determine chopping blocks.
7. Judges reserves the right to determine ax classification.
AXE THROWING:
1. Axe must be minimum of 24" overall length.
2. Axe must have a double bit head.
3. Target center will be 60" off of ground..
4. Throwing line will be 20" from center of target.
5. Axe must stick in target with front bit of axe only.
6. Score will be given for highest score ring broken by axe bit..
7. Contestants are allowed 1 practice throw and 3 scoring throws.
8. Best score from total of 3 throw wins.
9. Please have practice before entering competition if judge determines
it is your first time throwing, you will not be allowed to compete.
MODIFIED CHAINSAW :
1. This is for chainsaws with carburetor and exhaust modifications only.
No motorcycle or snowmobile engines.
2. Contestants must complete 3 full cuts.
3. Cut outs will result in disqualification.
4. Sawyers will start with both hands on wood and chainsaw running on
the ground.
5. Time will start on go and end when 3rd cut is complete.
6. 12x12 poplar will be cut.

the 4-H Air Rifle project.
2. Shooting entries must be made by each club. Rosters must be provided
by 4-H leaders to the Fair office no later than April 26, 2012.
3. Eye protection is required.
4. Order of firing will be determined by the range officer and/or members
on the day of the shoot.
5. Each bulls-eye equals 10 points. All divisions will use 10 bull targets.
There are three (3) stances (prone, kneeling, standing). If a line is
broken by the shot, the higher of the point score is given to the shooter.
ADDITIONAL 4-H AIR RIFLE CONTEST RULES:
1. Shooting distance for the shoot is 33 feet. The type of target used
is the AR 10 meter, air rifle, 10 bull target, as appropriate.
2. All divisions will have 30 minutes to complete 3 shooting positions
10 bull stance. Each shooter is allowed 2 practice shots for each stance
if desired.

Fair Beautification Contest

The Fair Beautification Contest
is open to any Bedford County 4-H Club or FFA Chapter to enhance the
surroundings of the Bedford County Fair with a landscaped booth. Fair
Beautification entries are due Friday, June 15.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Fair Beautification entries may be brought to the Fairgrounds on
Wednesday, July 18th, Thursday, July 19th or Friday, July 20th from
8 am to 8 pm.
2. Display locations will be assigned by blind draw, after entries are
due, with participating clubs to be notified of their display location
in writing .
3. Clubs entering the contest must make their display to occupy no more
than 6' x 10' area.
4. All plants or flowers must be real or live (no plastic
or silk) and designed to enhance the appearance of the fairgrounds.
The use of mulch with a border is encouraged. The use of additional
design items is encouraged.
5. Clubs will not alter existing area - NO DIGGING!
6. Club members must set up display. Adults should only supervise!
7, DISPLAY SHOULD NOT INCLUDE CLUB'S NAME. CLUB NAME MAY BE ADDED FOLLOWING
JUDGING.
8. DISPLAY SHOULD NOT INCLUDE ANY SPONSORS NAME. SPONSORS NAME MAY BE
ADDED FOLLOWING JUDGING.
9. Judging of Fair Beautification entries will be on Saturday, July
21st.
10. Exhibits must be watered by the club throughout the week.
11. When making the club entry for the Fair Beautification Contest,
clubs are asked to furnish contact information for more than one person
- it will assist in contacting club representatives regarding the club
entry.
12. Scoring for the Fair Beautification contest entries will be based
on:
a. General Appearance (includes health of flowers, material coordination,
how display fits space, materials appropriate for area - 65 points;
b. Use of a 4-H/ FFA/fair theme - 25 points;
c. Difficulty - design and arrangement by 4-H or FFA members -10 points;
d. Total Possible Points - 100
13. Exhibits must be removed by the club on Saturday, July 30th from
8 PM to 11 PM or Sunday, July 31st from 9 am to 2 PM
14. Premiums - Champion $100, Second Place $75, Third Place $50, Participation
$25

CONTEST RULES: Contestant/winner must:

4. Be available to attend some Fair events or contests throughout Fair
Week.
5. Be available to compete in the PA State Fair Queen Contest in January
2013 as the Bedford County Fair representative..
6. Be a resident of Pennsylvania.
7. Not be a former local Fair Queen Winner or former State Fair Queen
Contestant.
8. Not hold any other title for another commodity group or pageant.
9. Be of good moral character.
10. Be single, never married, have had no children and must not marry
or become pregnant during her reign.
The contest consists of:
1. A written essay on the topic"What My Fair Means To My Community",
submitted with biographical information/application.
2. A personal interview.
3. Evening gown competition.
4. Question/answer period during contest.
5. Speech presentation "Why You Should Come To My Fair".
