JUNIOR SWINE

JUNIOR MARKET HOGS

SPECIAL RULES:
1. There will be 12 classes divided by weight, irregardless of breed, to as nearly as possible having equal numbers of individual pigs shown in each class. Pigs weighing less than 220 lbs or more than 270 lbs are not eligible to compete.
2. An exhibitor may enter and show not more than 2 market hogs.
3. All hogs will be weighed in for Junior Market Show from 7 am - 9 pm on Saturday.. NO EXCEPTIONS.

4. All Light or heavy hogs will be reloaded and removed from the Fairgrounds. NO CARCASS HOGS should be on Fairgrounds prior to Wednesday morning's weight-in. (NO HOGS FROM SATURDAY WEIGH-IN ARE PERMITTED TO STAY UNTIL WEDNESDAY).

5.All health papers and completed (up to date) 4-H and FFA record books must be presented at weigh-ins in order for these animals to be weighed, or these animals will be required to leave the Fairgrounds.
6. Must be on feed as a 4-H or FFA project by May 1.
7. No Carcass Hogs will be permitted on the Fairgrounds before Wednesday Morning Weight-Ins. (This rule will be strictly enforced)..
8. All hogs entered in this show must have been tagged on May 5, 8 a.m. - noon, at the Fairgrounds with the approved tag. A maximum of 4 pigs per exhibitor can be brought to tagging.
9. Exhibitors are required to consult one of the swine committee members and a vet before any action is taken concerning a hog with any health problem.

SWINE FITTING SHOWMANSHIP

FITTING RULES: Clipping and/or fitting may be done at home or at the Fair.
CLASS: $8 will be given to each person who qualifies

MARKET HOG SALE
 

Market hogs to be sold at about 10:30 a.m. in the Ford Arena. The top 4 pigs from classes 1 through 12 will be sold as individuals in the auction. In addition, each pig exhibitor who does not have a pig in the top 48 may sell one hog individually providing it is carrying proper condition as determined by the judge. The top 2 carcass hogs will be auctioned individually following the Champion and Reserve Champion live hog. ALL other hogs shown will be grouped and sold in the auction. NO HOGS WILL BE LOADED OUT UNTIL ALL HOGS HAVE BEEN SOLD. NO EXCEPTIONS!

GOOD HOUSEKEEPING AWARDS FOR JUNIOR SWINE BARN

1. Group of Junior exhibitors and open show exhibitors who maintain the most attractive and sanitary exhibit of swine and equipment. Junior group includes both 4-H clubs and FFA chapters housing their animals in a group in the Junior Swine Barn. Must have 3 club members exhibiting animals in the group to qualify and housed in one area. Open exhibitors should have at least 5 animals.
2. Groups will be scored on the following basis:
30 points - Cleanliness of animals and bedding
20 points - Entry cards and ribbons properly displayed
10 points - Keeping grain and hay feed presentable
15 points - Keeping aisles clean
15 points - Courtesy to people

3. Inspection will be made daily and unannounced.

Weekly prizes: 1st $20, 2nd $15, 3rd $10
