Draft Animal

Draft Horse: A horse or similar equine such as donkey, mule, pony, burro. Any size or type used for chores on the farm or logging. For the purposes of this show they are in three divisions:
Heavy - animal weighing over 1300 lbs., or will average over 1300 lbs. at maturity or 14.2 hands;
Light - animal weighing under 1300 lbs., or will average under 1300 lbs. at maturity or 14.2 hands;
Draft pony - under 48 inches

Judging: Riding classes will be Sunday at 10:00 AM. Others will be Monday and Tuesday in Horse show ring behind horse barns

Eligibility Rules:
1. Arrive before 10:00 a.m. Sunday and leave no earlier than 2:00 pm Saturday.
2. Exhibitors must show animals entered unless exempt or dismissed by superintendent.
3. All person will abide by all fair rules and health requirements and protect the public from any unruly horses (biters, kickers, etc.) The superintendent will have full authority to remove any animal as needed for any reason.
4. COGGINS TEST IS REQUIRED, COGGINS PAPERS WILL BE DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES ON THE STALL OF THE ANIMAL. Rabies and Strangles vaccine are highly recommended.
5. Exhibitors will take prudent care when moving animals from one place to another within the fair grounds, making sure all precautions are taken to protect the public.
6. 4-H exhibitors showing in the Draft Horse Show should be stalled in the 4-H barns, if possible.
7. All exhibitors must show in at least two sections. Exhibitor may be single or farm.
8. No mare and foal will be separated regardless of class shown, unless so desired by owner.
9. Each exhibitor must have a separate number.
10. Youth classes will be divided into two sections age determined as of August 1, 2005:
Youth 12 years and under;
Youth 13 to 18 years.
11. All youth in hitch classes must be accompanied by adult driver.
12. Classes will be split by judge if needed
13. Safety helmets are suggested but not required.
14. There can not be leaders controlling animals in hitch classes.
|15. A brood mare must have had a live foal before July 1 of this year.
16. If entered in a brood mare class, the animal is not eligible for other mare classes.

1. All adult champions for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will receive rosettes.
2. All youth champions for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will receive rosettes and trophies.

GOOD HOUSEKEEPING AWARD SUNDAY - SATURDAY

Inspection will be made daily and unannounced. Each area will be judged, and scoring is as follows:
40 %- appearance of stalls, decorations including keeping area clean and tidy in front of stalls and middle of barns.
40 % - Cleanliness and care of animals and stalls including bedding, water, and hay available.
20 % - Courtesy to public, information posted on stalls (emergency data, coggins test).
